Input Sought on Expedited Letting Process
This past year, WisDOT used the expedited letting process to let several projects including:

-- Rock Freeway, USH 12 to Waukesha County Line (August 28 let)

-- Two traffic mitigation projects for the North-South Freeway, Loomis Road Intersections and the STH 241 and CTH BB Intersections (August 28 let)

-- Village of Lake Delton Projects in Sauk County (August 28 let)

-- Interstate 94, Baldwin - Menomonie Freeway Repairs in Dunn County (May 22 let).

WisDOT is in the process of evaluating this process and would appreciate feedback from WTBA members regarding the expedited letting process. In particular:

1. In your opinion, was the expedited letting successful? 2. Do contractors look favorably (or unfavorably) upon this process?

3. Do contractors have sufficient time to prepare a responsible bid? Does this process carry too much risk for contractors?

4. Were contractors satisfied with the quality of the letting documents, i.e., were the plans and special provisions sufficiently prepared that contractors had enough information to prepare a responsible bid?

5. From a contractor's perspective, did any issues arise that do not normally arise during the normal letting process? If so, what were they?

6. Do you have any suggestions for making the process smoother?

If you have input on these questions or any other issues related to WisDOT's Expedited Letting Process, please forward them to WTBA's Matt Grove at
mgrove@wtba.org and he will coordinate a response to WisDOT by Dec. 8.

If possible, please respond by Monday December 8.
